We at Precious Paws Rescue, Inc. recognize and understand that in some circumstances, however unfortunate, it becomes necessary for an owner to surrender their pet to a rescue organization. We pride ourselves on being the preferred "alternative" to taking a pet to the local shelter where their lives are left up to fate alone ... reality and statistics have many times over proven that most pets relinquished to county shelter facilities, not only in NC but all over the United States NEVER make it out alive. We believe that all pets deserve a happy and long life, even if it isn't possible for them to spend the entire lifetime with one family. They all deserve love, warm beds, happy homes, regular meals, and clean living conditions. To that end, Precious Paws Rescue, Inc. makes every effort to "make room" when there is a need for an owner to release their pet into rescue. We make the process as painless and uncomplicated as we possibly can, for the owner's sake and peace of mind as well as the pet's. We ask that owners provide Precious Paws Rescue, Inc. with current veterinary care records whenever possible, including proof of rabies vaccination and spay/neuter. This saves our vet time and effort and keeps us from duplicating vaccinations when it isn't necessary. We also make it a practice to accept as many of the pet's "personal belongings" as possible, including crates or bedding, familiar toys, bowls, leash, collar, etc. We feel this helps your pet in making the transition to our foster homes - because even though they are in a different place, there are still familiar items nearby to comfort them. Please take this in consideration when making the decision to give up your pet.
